SULO ("Support Local") isn't just a cafe, it's a community hub with a heart for local Filipino agriculture. We source fresh, plant-based ingredients directly from farms, empowering small businesses (especially those in Tarlac City!) and fostering a sustainable food system.

But SULO is about more than just delicious food. We're passionate about breaking down myths and stereotypes around vegan living. Whether you're a seasoned plant-based pro or just curious, join us for a welcoming and inspiring space to explore a cruelty-free lifestyle.

Our Story

Our founder's journey began in 2017 with a growing awareness of animal welfare and environmental issues. Documentaries and articles opened her eyes to the impact of animal agriculture, leading her to gradually transition away from a 21-year habit of consuming animal products.

In 2018, her passion for sustainability took root. She explored package-free solutions with an undergraduate feasibility study and launched "Earthsentials," an online shop promoting metal straws and reusable pouches. While Earthsentials ultimately faced challenges, it was a valuable learning experience, highlighting the importance of knowledge and commitment to sustainable practices.

Undeterred, our founder continued using and advocating for eco-friendly products. The COVID-19 lockdown (ECQ) proved to be a turning point. It fueled a desire to make a real difference – not just for herself, but for her community. While her initial motivation for plant-based eating was weight loss, it blossomed into a deep passion.

Weaving together her love of baking and her dedication to sustainability, SULO sprouted. Gone are the days of dairy-laden treats. Now, SULO prioritizes fresh ingredients sourced directly from Tarlac farmers. This venture represents a fusion of personal growth and environmental action, aiming to empower local agriculture and inspire others to embrace a cruelty-free lifestyle.

It's a story of learning, adaptation, and growth – a seed of change blossoming into a delicious and sustainable future for all.
